09:21 am - last week Last week i actually realised that i was in university and that i needed to get some serious work done. i had hockey training on monday night and spent the rest of the week avoiding parties and staying in procrastinating. I joined the gym and went grocery shopping. there is ALWAYS something to do here, you can never be bored. I got to know more of the girls from 3rd haida and have been hanging out a lot with liz of course. Thursday night we had a floor meeting which basically involved us decorating the lounge, eating cookies and then watching the OC, which is quite amazing! On friday after classes i went downtown and bought a longboard.....i cannot stress how beautiful it is, its made out of bamboo and oh my gosh it is gorgeous, ive hardly been off it! now im not guna be late for class ever again, except im still a bit wobbly and dont like going down hills too fast. Anyway, friday night was our brother floors initiation night or "optional fun night" as it was called. basically a couple of the 2nd years were running it and there were various tasks set up that the guys had to do, being awarded various points for each task....the first one was to drink 4 litres of milk within one hour, of course this is physically impossible and they were all sick! other tasks were snorting hot sauce, taking shots of 151 with an oyster in it, streeking around the campus, eating raw onions, potatoes, garlic, down a beer gong full of salt water, down half a bottle of cooking oil or syrup. of course there was a lot of shaving and waxing also. the guy who won - mark- is now less one eyebrow and has a mohawk!
Saturday i had my first longboat race, we were doing so well at the start, we were leading and then i cudnt get the turn at the 2nd beach so we ended up coming 4th outa 5, but it was loadsa fun chanting while we were rowing. Mal and I had a massive fight in the middle of the beach, sooo funny, we were rolling all over the sand and then fighting in the water trying to floor eachother. Of course i didnt have any other clothes and was totally soaked, but it was all good! There was a DJ there, 290 teams and free coffee so i was happy! Sat night didnt really consist of an awful lot, i was wrecked after longboat and most people have midterms next week so they were studying. after ruining harry potter 4 2 people (accidentally) i went to bed around 2ish.
This morning i got up at 7 to go for a really early longboat race, weather was pants, it wasnt raining it was just freezing, but as soon as i got some coffee into me i was singing and getting the girls pumped up for the race. It was so much harder to steer this time, but it was a really fun race because there were 3 haida teams in it, of course we were placed 1st, 2nd and 4th out of 6! yes my team were 4th! I couldnt wait to get home into the shower, i spent most of the day sleeping, it was raining pretty hard and i really needed to catch up on some.
This next week is guna be a bit intense with a lot of homework to catch up on, tuck-ins (which are basically random dates between us and our brother floor) on wed its our turn to tuck in the guys so we have to decide what we're guna do and what time etc. On sat morning (4am) i set off for toronto with Liz, i cant wait!! its guna be sooo mad, think im spending a day with luke aswell, after he gets back from doing a promotional job in new york. Anyway, better head to bed, needa be able to get up for womens studies tomorrow!

08:51 am - Oh Canada! Where have i been?? so last time i updated it was just after our first "organised party" which feels like ages ago. Ive been living in residence for exactly a month - wow how time flies, its crazy. My courses arn't too bad, saying that everyone here is so damn smart, like crazily, as in they all actually study really hard, but i guess they party hard which makes up for it. Everyone who says that Uni work isn't as bad as school work is definately lying. I mean i have so much reading to do, mid-terms start this week for a lot of people, but for me i seem to have chosen really dossy classes. Apart from having 2 essays due this week and an in class summary in english, its pretty much an easy week compared to some people who have exams everyday. Oh i love being in arts! Anyway, the week after the party was filled with some hockey training with my new team - the vipers, really awesome team, they're so nice. it was also Chrissie thompsons birthday so i gave her a wee wake up call at 2 am. i had a couple of meetings with some of the girls from 'Christians at UBC ', got to chat about what their club was about and did some bible studies. The weekend of the 23rd was completely mad!! there was a couple of fun parties on friday night, stayed around totem mostly, nothing too crazy. Saturday was colour wars!! each house in totem residence is designated a specific colour, haida was designated black so we all got covered in black paint and wore black clothes, then we went against all the other houses in various challenges....tug-of-war - we won this because we are awesome, but we got disqualified cause once the other team fell into the pool of spaghetti we started a spaghetti fight! plastic slide - we all ran and jumped down a sheet of plastic which was covered in water and fairy liquid! clothes race - we had to make the longest line of clothes possible by whatever we were wearing - produced a lot of people wearing very little clothing. throughout all of these events we were all chanting our different house cheers, it was so much fun even though we got disqualified! Sat night there was a haida BBQ and then the first residence dance, which was called "glow market", previously known as "meat market" we got highlighters and drew all over eachother and it glowed under this cool light. i spent most of the night looking after some girl who had passed out after drinking way too much, she had to be taken away to the drunk tank, not cool. Sunday was my longboat practice, we were shown how to paddle and i was taught how to steer, apparently im not very good at it as i managed to steer us into the dock and get us wrapped up in a crab rope! Oh well, it was fun anyway! After i got back from longboat i had a hockey match against the hawks who are flipping amazing, they had loads of national players on their team, we lost 4-3 but the last goal was scored in the last 2 mins which kinda sucks. Loadsa fun though.

08:54 pm - End of week 2! Wow so ive had 2 weeks of classes, ive finally sorted out my schedual and what courses im doing after a while of dropping courses and adding courses. Ive ended up doing Philosophy, Psychology, Womens studies and English, theyre all pretty interesting but the workload over here is so different than at home. We have a constant pressure put on us to do assignments and readings, i hadnt realised that this is actually a really prestigious uni and that people actually had to work their asses off to get in here. Seems a bit weird for me seeing as i do pretty much frig all! Ok so i thought i shud add in school work at the beginning cause thats y im at university right?? ha! ive gotta remind myself to go to class most of the time. the past two weeks have consisted of me not making the varsity team, but im playing for a different team in the same league as them....we beat them last wkend haha! anyway, they (the vipers) only train once a week so it means i have lots of spare time to get involved in other stuff. And man i have, ive been busking on the street for cystic fibrosis, signing up for everything intermural (from longboating to ultimate frisbee), ive been learning to longboard. Then the weekends come and this place turns mad! football games, a concert with some pretty awesome canadian bands, bouncy castles and inflatable sumo wrestling, phrat parties. Friday nite our brother floor (floor above us) had a cowboy party, really mad with strobe lights, didnt last long tho, it got broken up at 10:30 wen the police and paramedics were called. A guy had taken pot that was laced with sumthin and was trippin out really bad then a couple of the guys kinda collapsed cause they drank too much. Im planning on going to toronto for a long weekend at thanksgiving with my twin, Liz. Shud be an awesome weekend, she went to see system of a down last nite, said it was brill but man she smelled bad wen she got in. Ive also been having really weird dreams, lots about racoons and boars chasing me! weird! oh and i have challenged myself, i have to catch a squirrel before the end of 1st year....there are so many of them. i also saw a skunk (i ran very quickly) and loads of racoons! Anyway, i needa start some reading!

10:31 pm - UBC baby! ok so ive been moved in two days now, its been interesting to say the least, its labour day today so nothing is open. Classes start on wednesday, not that i actually have many classes to go to because ive been dropped out of a lot of my classes due to my alevel results. I currently only have 3 classes this term, english 112, philosophy 100 and womens studies 100, basically means that i have no classes on tuesday and thursdays, no classes before 10am and no classes after 3pm. Whereas some of the girls on my floor have got classes everyday, start at 8am and have some classes as late as 10pm. I am officially a bum! On sat i had to do some crappy english test called the LPI, it was basically to see if i could write sufficiently, the essay was on whether people could cope without luxury items and whether they shud have to? of course i went of on a big rant about how we dont need anything in life bla bla.... Anyway, so far its just been parties all the time and them sum prats trying to be funny by pulling the fire alarm.....so far weve had 3, the last one was at 4:30 this morning...i was not impressed! we have to evacuate each time and stand about 4 half an hour before theyll let us back in! Met some really cool people, including my birthday twin, weve even made up a cool handshake! anyway, going on thurs nite with a couple of the girls to check out a christian group. theres just so many groups about campus, so i think we might float about them all before we get settled. Last week was hockey training as well as Gala (international orientation), training was a bit intense and the running was really tough, but not as bad as i thought it was going to be. all the girls on the team are really awesome, so friendly. we had a meal together at our managers house on friday nite, mmm pizza is good. The trials for the team are tomorrow and wednesday, id really love to get red shirted and then possibly try and get on the junior varsity team which has their trials tonight.... So much happening!! mum left this morning, so no more free food :-( nah i am actually really guna miss her. It still dusnt feel like this is happening!!! ah its awesome!!

Got up and really didnt feel the best this morning, but we were going out 4 breakfast to pike place market so that made it all better. mmm i got some lovely eggs benedict and coffee and the views from lowels were just gorgeous - right over the ocean! We wandered about pike place for a while, watching the fish guys throw the fish everywhere! we then went to issaquah to go to Costco - my first time there and it is soooo much fun, its like macro but loads bigger!! hahaha and they had majassive chocolate cakes!! mmm anyway after about an hour there we headed back to the house and played some more cards.....man im guna be all carded out. kyle and annalise have just gone down 2 the beach with sum friends so theres a bit of peace for a while. i might go 4 a walk to the pond now. who knows! 10:44 pm - Thursday So yea im in Seattle, still hasnt hit me, but i guess thats cuz my aunties house feels like a 2nd home anyway, its all really familiar and stuff. Got up after a long nights disturbed sleep. went around to kathys for some coffee, kern was there, hes loving uni in Walla walla. treys hair is still mad and Rory has injured himself but was still working out, the twins are getting so big...all talk 2! After that we went out for lunch with anne to a wee cafe in seattle. Got back and tried to sort out a lot of stuff for uni as in international orientation, english exams and training! yuk! then kyle and annalise got back, they tried to teach me how to play la crosse, then we played countless number of games of spit and golf. Went and watched kyle play american football last night, he looked so cute in all his padding, his helmet was half the size of him! Went over to the dragon park for a bit with annalise, played a cool game on the climbing frame and realised just how weak my arms are as im soooo crap at the monkey bars!! we came home had dinner and by then i was totally pooped and headed 2 bed!

10:36 pm - Wednesday Got up at 5:30 to get a shower and all that jazz, i.e. finish packing. Left the house around 6:45 to go to jurys to get the bus. Abbie and nikki turned up!! And there was me thinking they didnt wanna get in contact with me b4 i left the losers!! it was sooo good 2 see them even tho our hugs were cut short cause the bus driver nearly started to go. On the bus as we were driving outa belfast mum realised that she had forgotten her wallet which of course had all of her credit cards and her driving liscence which meant that we wudnt be able 2 get a rental car....so of course she started panicing! Whereas me who was half asleep was totally calm lol, rang Bill and Norma and Bill was soon on his way trying to catch the bus! He eventually caught us in dundalk where he delievered the wallet - thanx sooo much Bill, your a star! unlike ur daughter who plays mind games with me by hiding letters! so we got to Dublin eventually, then a 7 and a half hour flight to chicago ( air hostesses were hilarious) and then a 4 hour flight to Seattle which i slept most of the way. Eventually got there and one of my bags didnt turn up, the one with all my fotos in it but more importantly all my cadburys chocolate....(i started to think that maybe im not meant to remember home!) anyway, then got the rental car, got all the bags in and then realised the car was too small so emptied the car again, got a bigger one and then packed the car again. So yes, eventually got to Auntie Pattis at around 9ish seattle time which wud be 5am saintfield time....long journey bleh! Got in and said goodnight to kyle and annalise then fell in2 bed aswell!

10:25 pm - Tuesday Spent the morning laying out clothes before i headed into town to change my piercing and to play a bit of hockey. Saw jayne in town and got to say bye to her. Then headed to deramore where ash, chris, claire and esty were. Really good fun messing about with them even tho it did pour for a wee while. claire even brought buns! Went home and started packing....well saying that i waited until after dinner 2 attempt it again and then basically faffed about until Emma came round. Emma came round and we reminisced over some photos. After she left i took another break(like i had really started) and got some more coffee, then got stuck into the packing again. Around 12ish Kat appeared and then ash shortly after, they stayed until around 2 when i had just about finished packing. Kat decided she would hide a note somewhere, so of course i decided to spend the rest of the night/morning trying to find it.....(i only found it today, in my goalie kit!! and there was me thinking i had left it at home hidden somewhere!!) Managed to get to sleep around 3:30ish
